The comparison of cooperative integrated reading and composition (CIRC) and student team achievement comprehension in descriptive text of students at SMP Muhammadiyah 1 Metro academic year 2014/2015

Method
Reading is one of the skills that are learnt by the students. Reading skill is one of
complex and dif?cult skill than the other skills such as speaking, listening, and
writing because reading is the ?rst skill that is connecting other skill. Reading has
important role in our life, by reading we are able to get a lot of information,
knowledge and enjoyment. The main problem that makes the students do not like
with reading subject is uninteresting teaching strategy which used by many
teacher. Many methods presented as a solution ir1 reading comprehension in
descriptive text are CIRC and STAD method. The problem formulations in this
research are; 1) ls there any difference between CIRC and STAD method toward
students reading comprehension ir1 descriptive text at SMP Muhammadiyah l
Metro in Academic Year 2014/2015? 2) Which one is better between CIRC and
STAD method toward students reading comprehension in descriptive text at SMP
Muhammadiyah 1 Metro in Academic Year 2014/2015?
In this research the researcher uses quantitative research. The design is true
experimental design. The researcher conducted her research at the seventh grade
of SMP Muhammadiyah 1 Metro. The population in this research was 134
students. It was consist of 5 classes and average each class consist of 26. The
researcher used cluster sampling as technique sampling in taking the sample, the
sample of this research is VII D as an experimental class and VIl E as a control
class.
To analyze the data, the researcher used tm formula. The researcher got the result
