Students reading comprehension at the students eleventh grade of MAN 1 Lampung Timur in academic year 2014/2015 still low, it can be seen on the result of final test from English teacher. The average of reading comprehension is about 34 % which get a score less than K.KM (75).. The researcher can be identified some problem which are discovered such as: Students' interest in englis subject is still low, because many students were lazy to read text given, the students have low vocabulary mastery, the students have low motivation in reading comprehension and student didn't feel easy and enjoy to read the material in english with comprehension. The objectives of this research were to find out the correlation between interest in English subject and reading comprehension. This research was conducted at MAN 1 Lampung Timur. The population of this research is all of the students of MAN 1 Lampung Timur which consists of 23 classes with total students are 816 students. The sample was 38 students taken randomly.
In this research, the researcher uses quantitative research method as a way of framing correlation research design. Correlation research here mean one group to be tested the data without giving any treatment. In doing this research, the researcher used two test to get the data namely interest in English subject (Questionnaire) and reading comprehension (test). The researcher uses cluster sampling technique and gets XI IPA as the sample. In this research, to analyze the data the researcher use product moment correlation.
The result of analysis gained as follows: there is positive correlation between habit in listening English songs and pronunciation because the index of value r= 0, 78. It means a criterion of value r is high positive correlation. After that, the researcher gets vaRie of significant correlation is tObservation=5,96. It is compared with ttabie for the significant in a = 0, 05 (5%) with dk = n - 2= 38, so t table is 2, 06. Finally, the data confirmed that tObserve higher than ttabie (5, 96 > 2,06). Therefore, it can be inferred Ha is accepted and Ho is rejected. It means that there is positive and significant correlation between interest in english subject and reading comprehension.
