Developing podcast media for listening skill at the eleventh grade of senior high school

Key Words: Listening, Media, Podcast.
Listening is the important role in commmncation. Nevertheless, Based on pre
survey many students at Senior High School are not interested in listening subject.
Therefore, the researcher tried to develop podcast media in order to facilitate the
teacher and students in listening.
The type of the reseacher is developmental research. The steps of this research were
self evaluation, expert review and one-to-one, small group, and ?eld test The
subject of this research are 29 students at the eleventh grade of SMA N 3 Metro and
28 students at the eleventh grade of SMK Muharmnadiyah 3 Metro.
The researcher collects the data by giving some questionnaires to the expert and
students which consist of implementability, readability and audibility of the media.
Based on the result of per item the score was increasing in each steps. From the
steps conducted by the researcher there are some revisions of the product. The
revisions are addition of instruction, easier the material and made the sound clear.
In the ?eld test the students responded well and they were interested in using the
product. It means that podcast media can be used effectively in helping the teacher
and students in listening.
The result showed that; ?rst, Podcast media can be applied in the eleventh grade of
Senior High School. Second, most of the students are fully enjoy in the listening
process using podcast media. They were very attracted in learning English.
