Writing simple past tense is a genre of writing ability that asks the students to tell
about the past. However in fact many students became confuse about their writing
assignment and simple past tenses is one of text that di?icult to learn by the
students. To create good sentences especially writing simple past sentences
students have to know the formula ?rst. The objectives of the research are to ?nd
out the ?actors of the students error in using to be of simple past tense; to fnd out
the result of analysis students using to be of simple past tense.
