The comparison of using numbered head together (NHT) techniques and cooperative integrated reading composition (CIRC) techniques toward reading comprehension in descriptive text at the students of SMP N 1 Bandar Mataram in academic year 2014-2015
Reading comprehension is key point for basic English. The aim of this study is to
?nd out the suitable technique between NHT and CIRC technique in teaching
reading. Many techniques presented as a solution in reading comprehension in
descriptive text are NHT and CIRC Technique. The design of this research is
experimental design with pre-test and post-test design. The research is conducted
at the second grade of SMP N 1 Bandar Mataiam. The number of population is
160 students therefore the researcher use cluster random sampling as technique
sampling. The students in each of experiment and control class consists of 32
students that classi?cation of heterogenic student level. The researcher get the
result of the average score in experimental class is 63,40 and control class is 57,84. Its
mean that the result of reading score in experimental class is higher than in control class.
Therefore, NHT Technique is more effective than CIRC Technique toward
students reading comprehension in descriptive text the second grade of SMP N 1
Bandar Mataram Academic Year 2014/2015.
