INDONESIA The Official Handbook is the yearly official handbook in the series prepared and revised each year by the Directorate General of Information and Public Communication of the Ministry of Communication and Information Technology, the Republic of Indonesia. The main objective in publishing this book is to provide general information on Indonesia's wide range of characteristics, from its ideology, geography, history, government bodies to its socio-economic and political aspects and all other aspects of national development, in which the readers may become better acquainted with Indonesia.

However we have to be honest that this handbook is not the most comprehensive notes about Indonesia. The contents of this handbook are compilation of available information and data extracted from a series of government publication, agencies and bodies as well as other reliable resources.

We sincerely wish that this simple handbook may assist the readers on hands in keeping track of the progress of the Republic of Indonesia.
