The authors are thankful to God the Almighty as they could finish preparing English as a little piece of contribution to the teaching and learning of English.
This book has been designed around the Regulation of the Minister of Education and Culture of the Republic of Indonesia No. 69 Year 2013 about Basic Framework and Curriculum Structure of Senior Secondary School/Islamic Senior Secondary School as a Compulsory Subject.
The general objective of teaching and learning of English is to enable students to communicate in English. With this skill, they are expected to be able to express themselves in English and to follow the development of information and technology in the world. In this era of globalization English indeed has become an important means of communication.
The specific objective of teaching and learning English is to equip students with adequate skills on listening, speaking, reading and writing. Considering this, each lesson of the book consists of Listening, Speaking, Reading, Writing, Grammar Focus, and Enrichments followed by a number of exercises. Explanation on structure is given in a simple way. When necessary, teachers should give additional explanation. The tasks should be done in the exercise book.
The authors hope this book can help teachers and students to achieve the goals of teaching and learning English in accordance with the curriculum demand.
The authors also highly appreciate those who are willing to give them constructive and positive inputs or suggestions for the betterment of this book.
