Your Health Today is the product of a collaboration among a health educator teaching at a large Midwestern university (Michael Teague), a family physician working at a large university in the Northwest (Sara Mackenzie), and a family therapist working in New York City (David Rosenthal). Each of us interacts with students in a different way, yet we all share an intense interest in student health and a commitment to student well-being. When we first began talking about this text, we found we also shared a belief that more could be done to engage students in their own health care and health-related decisions. Further, we believed that students could benefit from an expanded view of the factors that influence their health today-and of ways they can influence the health of their campuses and communities. We endorse the vision of Healthy People 2010-Healthy People in Healthy Communities-and we wanted to embed that vision in our book.
